FINAL: Mentoring the Next Wave

Scenario

A junior member joins your review board. They are diligent, technically fluent, and they defer: to vendor assurances, to benchmark tables, to whichever senior voice spoke last. Nothing in their conduct is negligent. Nothing in it is verification.

Your task

Design their first year. Specify what they review and in what order, which live gate decisions they shadow from G-12 downward, what they must independently reproduce before their signature counts, and the first decision on which their refusal to sign is allowed to hold up a system. Include the failure mode: what you do when they defer anyway.

What the council weighs

Whether your mentorship transfers verification habits or opinions. A plan that produces a junior member who agrees with you scores lower than one that produces a member who can show you where you are wrong, with records.

1,000–1,500 words. AI assistance is permitted and must be disclosed in your attestation; undisclosed assistance is grounds for revocation. Graded by council against the five rubric dimensions in the assessment specification.
